What types of documents can ParseFlow process?

ParseFlow supports five document types: invoices, receipts, contracts, ID documents (passports, driver licenses, national IDs), and bank statements. You can specify the document type or let our auto-detection engine identify it automatically.

For clear, standard-format documents, ParseFlow typically achieves 90-95% accuracy on native PDFs. Scanned documents and images processed with OCR achieve 85-93% accuracy depending on scan quality. Every extraction includes a confidence score (0-1) so you can route uncertain results for human review.

What file formats are supported?

ParseFlow supports PDF (native text and scanned), JPEG/JPG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF. Native PDFs with embedded text get the fastest processing and highest accuracy. Image-based formats require OCR, available on Pro and Enterprise plans. CSV and DOCX support is coming soon.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All files are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and processed in memory. Original documents are never stored on our servers — they are deleted immediately after extraction. We comply with GDPR and offer a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for enterprise customers. Our infrastructure is SOC 2 compliant.

How do I authenticate API requests?

Include your API key in the X-API-Key header with every request. You can also use the Authorization: Bearer format. Get your API key from the Dashboard after signing up. Keys can be rotated at any time for security.

What is the maximum file size?

File size limits depend on your plan: Free (5 MB), Starter (20 MB), Pro (50 MB), Enterprise (100 MB). If your file exceeds the limit, the API returns a FILE_TOO_LARGE error with the maximum allowed size for your plan.

How does batch processing work?

Send multiple files in a single POST request to /api/v1/batch. Files are processed in parallel for maximum speed. Limits per batch: Free (3 files), Starter (10), Pro (50), Enterprise (unlimited). Each file returns its own extraction result with individual confidence scores.

What languages does OCR support?

Our OCR engine supports 50+ languages with automatic language detection. Common languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese) are available on all plans. Full multi-language support with less common scripts is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

How do I handle rate limiting?

Every response includes X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. If you exceed the limit, you receive a 429 status with a Retry-After header indicating how many seconds to wait. Free and Starter plans allow 60 requests/minute, Enterprise allows 120 requests/minute.

Can I retrieve previous extraction results?

Yes. Every extraction returns a unique ID (e.g., ext_7f3a2b1c...). Use GET /api/v1/documents/:id to retrieve results at any time. Results are stored for 90 days on all plans.

What happens if extraction fails?

If the document cannot be processed (e.g., corrupted file, unreadable scan), the API returns a 422 status with the error code EXTRACTION_FAILED. The response includes a human-readable error message explaining why. Common causes include extremely low-resolution images, encrypted PDFs, and heavily redacted documents.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes 100 documents per month with invoice and receipt extraction, JSON output, and community support. No credit card is required to sign up. You can upgrade at any time from the Dashboard.

What happens if I exceed my monthly quota?

Accepted Answer

When you reach your monthly document limit, subsequent API requests return a 429 status code with the error code QUOTA_EXCEEDED. You can upgrade your plan at any time from the Dashboard. Unused documents do not roll over to the next month.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes. You can change your plan at any time from the Dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.

Yes. For organizations processing more than 100,000 documents per month, or requiring custom integrations, on-premise deployment, or dedicated SLA, contact our sales team for custom pricing. Enterprise plans include dedicated support, custom extraction templates, and SLA guarantees.
